Fiber to the Cabinet

Through VLU/FTTC service the SPs may provide reliable broadband services to its end-users such as Internet, TV (IPTV), Video on Demand, Telephony (VoIP), etc.

Overview

United Fiber’s VLU/FTTC service enables the SP to provide end-user wired broadband connections through xDSL equipment (DSLAM) located in the outdoor cabin.

For this purpose, both United Fiber’s installed equipment (DSLAM) near the end user, as well as a relevant local sub-loop (SLU) leased by the Local Subloop Wholesale Provider (LSWP) are used.

VLU/FTTC service is only available where xDSL equipment is installed in the outdoor cabin.

The United Fiber’s Points of Presences (PoPs) aggregate connections whose SLU belongs to one or more Local Exchanges of the LSWP. VLU/FTTC is available at least at downstream speeds of 30 Mbps, 50 Mbps, 100 Mbps and 200 Mbps. The upstream speed per product is set to 10% downstream speed.

Through VLU/FTTC service the SPs may provide reliable broadband services to its end-users such as Internet, TV (IPTV), Video on Demand, Telephony (VoIP), and Other Services.

Service Details

The service demarcation points are:

(a) towards the end user’s end point, the copper termination point of LSWP (termination frame or box); and

(b) to the network side, the concentration node of United Fiber’s  relative PoP.

More specifically, the VLU/FTTC service provides a broadband connection between:

  • the copper termination point (termination frame  or box) in the End User’s residence  and
  • the concentration node located at United Fiber’s PoP where DSLAMs traffic is aggregated (where the End User is connected).
