Once built, this critical asset will be marketed by United Group International (UGI), United Group\u2019s dedicated wholesale and commercialisation arm.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This new route is a cornerstone of United Fiber\u2019s infrastructure expansion in Southeast Europe. It will offer a future-proof, high-capacity connection designed to meet growing demand from hyperscalers, OTTs, and carriers. By commercialising the asset, UGI is helping position Greece as a major digital gateway between the Eastern Mediterranean, Central Europe and the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis route represents exactly the kind of infrastructure today\u2019s digital economy demands\u2014and UGI is ready to bring it to market in the most flexible, service-oriented way possible.\u201d said Paolo Ficini, CEO of UGI.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A Resilient Route in a Rapidly Evolving Market<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Greece\u2019s strategic location is attracting next-generation subsea cable systems and hyperscaler interest, yet the existing backbone still largely relies on legacy aerial fiber or constrained capacity. United Fiber\u2019s fully underground Athens\u2013Thessaloniki route directly addresses this gap with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Physically diverse and climate-resilient construction<\/li>\n<li>Ultra-low latency and enhanced capacity<\/li>\n<li>Direct interconnection with United Group\u2019s 50,000+ km fiber network spanning Southeast and Central Europe<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The route also integrates with new United Fiber builds extending toward Bulgaria and Turkey, forming a broader high-performance corridor for East-West data transit.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wholesale Services via UGI<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>UGI, as the commercialisation entity, will offer a full suite of services over the new infrastructure, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>IRU dark fiber and alien wavelength offerings<\/li>\n<li>Managed and unmanaged MPLS<\/li>\n<li>IP transit, capacity services, and carrier Ethernet<\/li>\n<li>Data centre integration and co-location options<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All services are backed by 24\/7 supervision, strict SLAs and tailored support to enable partners to deploy scalable, latency-sensitive applications.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Enabling Growth, Unlocking Value<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With the Greek digital economy surging &#8211; driven by investments in AI, cloud infrastructure and data centres &#8211; this route will serve as foundational infrastructure for future growth.
